SM City Iloilo Cinemas new IMAX Theater - First Impressions

SM City Iloilo IMAX Cinema Lobby has its own snack bar.

November 15, 2023, marked the grand opening of the new IMAX with laser theater in SM City Iloilo boasting cutting-edge 4K laser technology that delivers increased resolution, deeper contrast, and improved color rendering.

I was eager to try out the new IMAX with laser theatre at SM City Iloilo so I decided to go and watch the latest Hunger Games movie (it is either that or The Marvels) a day after the opening of the new theatre.

First impressions: The seats were nice and comfortable, the image quality of the film was very bright with good contrast (I chose row J and I think that it is the best viewing vantage point), and the sound quality was really great (this is especially apparent towards the end of the movie where they showcased the spacial surround capability of the sound system - if you have watched this film then you know exactly what I'm talking about. There were only about 9 or so people in the movie theatre at the time so I am not sure if that is the reason why I felt so cold inside but I will definitely recommend bringing a sweater just in case.
