A Relaxing Getaway at Sun Sea Resort in Guimaras, Philippines

Located along the Guimaras Circumferential Road in Barangay Canhawan, Nueva Valencia, Sun Sea Resort offers a relaxing escape with its peaceful surroundings and cozy accommodations. While it may not be your typical beachfront resort (the beach is across the road from the resort and not the type of beach to swim in), it provides a pleasant and relaxing experience, especially for those seeking a quiet retreat.

Upon arrival, adjusting your expectations is important as there isn’t direct beach access. However, the resort compensates with its inviting pool area, where you can unwind and enjoy the soothing ambiance. In the early mornings, we had a great time observing the birds diving gracefully into the pool presumably to cool off.

The room we got was spacious and equipped with a seating area and a TV (depending on the room type you booked). Staying on the upper floors allowed for delightful sea views across the road, adding to the tranquil vibe. Although the second pool on the higher deck was still under construction during our visit in March 2022, the resort offered other leisure options such as an activity area with darts, a pool table, and a mini gym.

For those interested in exploring beyond the resort, water activities like island hopping can be easily arranged at the front desk. Additionally, day trips around Guimaras are a great way to discover the island's beauty, especially since there isn’t much to do near the resort.

One drawback during our stay was the connectivity. Cellular reception was poor, and while the resort does provide Wi-Fi, the signal didn’t reach the room areas, and the internet connection was unreliable. Mobile data could only be accessed by crossing the street and heading closer to the shoreline.

Dining at the resort was satisfactory, with a buffet-style breakfast served in a communal dining area. Other meals could be ordered and conveniently delivered to the room, ensuring a relaxed dining experience.

Overall, Sun Sea Resort provided a pleasant and peaceful stay. While there are areas for improvement, such as better internet connectivity and additional amenities, the serene atmosphere, the friendly staff, and the welcoming facilities made for a memorable stay.
